Given his athletic background (see Founder at: www.studentinsuranceagency.com), Bill fully appreciated the importance of sports in the development of young students. To provide the injured students with medical care, he launched Student Insurance. He sought the help of Senator John Vasconcellos, then a young assemblyman, and together, they introduced legislation which mandated schools to make available accident insurance to athletes.
Bill Hooper and Student Insurance were the harbingers of insurance for students and for many years have specialized in serving the California schools and colleges. Bill's contribution to the California Community College System has been profound. Through the years, Bill Hooper has contributed untold amounts toward scholarships, financial assistance to sports programs, sports teams and administrator/students projects. The walls of Student Insurance are covered with awards and appreciation plaques from students and administrators.
During the past several years, Bill Hooper and Student Insurance have expanded their programs and services to schools out side California. Recently, Student Insurance was chosen to be the official insurance provider for the AACC (American Association of Community Colleges).

Bill Hooper, Founder and President of Student Insurance realized the importance of accident insurance for athletes during his service in the U.S. Army/Korean War. As an R.O.T.C. Instructor at Van Nuys High School, in Van Nuys, California, he brought sports to his students as part of their educational curriculum. He also realized that participation in sports could result in injuries to the players.
