Institute on Student Discipline

In conjunction with the California Community College Chief Student Services Administrators Association National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) invites you and your colleagues to attend an Institute on Student Discipline, Thursday and Friday, April 12 & 13, 2007, in San Francisco.
Alliant International University’s Graduate School of Education (GSOE) is committed to educational leadership development for college and university managers, faculty, and staff. In response to issues and concerns raised about student discipline, classroom management and new challenges arising on campus around student behavior, GSOE is sponsoring a two-day professional leadership seminar to address current trends and develop perspectives on best practices, which would be of use to college leadership for strengthening effective classroom and campus management. The Institute will address four critical areas:
We invite you to join your colleagues to participate in identifying and discussing these challenges and emerging trends, and contribute to an Institute Outcomes Report outlining issue resolution and best practices in the field of student discipline based on information garnered from these workshops. Event DetailsThe Institute begins at 11:00am on Thursday, April 12th and workshops end by 5:15pm. The Institute resumes Friday, April 13th, at 8:30am and will adjourn at 1:00pm. The workshop has limited space available (75 max); therefore, please register as soon as possible to reserve your space(s) by contacting Dr. Ed Shenk at eshenk@alliant.edu or 415-955-2193. There will be a $25 registration fee per person collected at the door, which includes a box lunch Thursday and course materials. Checks can be made payable to GSOE-Alliant International University: note Institute on Student Discipline in the check memo. LocationAlliant International University Hotel AccommodationsParticipants who would like a room near the University can contact Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf @ 800-942-7348 and mention Alliant University Group by March 12, 2007 for the special rate of $109.00. A limited number of rooms are set aside for April 11 and 12. Public TransportationWe encourage public transportation. Ferries from Vallejo, Larkspur and Alameda come to Pier 41, which is five minutes for the University at One Beach St. You can also take BART to the Embarcadero stop and then catch the F-line (trolley cars) to Pier 39 and the University is across the street from the F-line stop. If you must drive, use map quest to get you to One Beach Street. Parking is near by in lots at Bay and Embarcadero, a big lot across from Pier 39 and a lot on Beach about three blocks up. We encourage those who drive not to leave any valuables in the car or visible. ![]() |
