Graduate Degrees in Higher Education offered by Alliant International University
The Alliant International University Graduate School of Education offers graduate study in Educational Leadership and Management. We offer a Master of Arts in Educational Administration with a Higher Education focus and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Higher Education at several campuses throughout the state.
Our doctoral programs are aimed at preparing educational practitioners to be effective and creative educational leaders in their respective fields, providing them with a strong repertoire of knowledge, skills and professional dispositions. You’ll learn from faculty that are higher education professionals in their own right, and who understand the current challenges facing educational leaders today. Our Program Director of the Educational leadership and management programs at the San Francisco campus is a former community college leader in student services, Dr. Ed Shenk. We’d love to discuss your career plans, and how a graduate degree from Alliant can help take your career to the next level. Our programs are designed for the working professional, because we believe you should be able to pursue educational as well as professional goals without sacrificing one for the other. Applications are now being accepted for summer and fall 2007. For more information, go to http://www.alliant.edu/gsoe, email admissions@alliant.edu or call 1-866-U-ALLIANT. Dr. Shenk can be reached at eshenk@alliant.edu . Alliant International University is a private, nonprofit institution accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
About the AuthorKaren Schuster Webb, Ph.D. Karen Schuster Webb joined Alliant International University's Graduate School of Education in July 2000. Previously, she served as dean of the College of Education at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and as program chair of language education at the University of Kentucky. She has also held faculty positions at Howard University and Indiana University. Dean Webb serves on the Board of Examiners for the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English standing committee on Teacher Preparation and Certification. Her research and publications are in the areas of applied linguistics, inclusive pedagogy, and discourse pragmatics. Dean Webb's philosophy for the Graduate School of Education is based, in part, on the idea of SANKOFA, which derives from a proverb of the Akan people of Ghana. The words San (return), Ko (go), and Fa (look, see, take) suggest that success depends on an intelligent and patient quest for knowledge that is informed by the wisdom of the past. It means building on your strengths as you move forward into the future. Under Dean Webb, the Graduate School of Education helps students to recognize the importance of identifying their own strengths and those of others, so that all can achieve their goals.
